BRICK - Police have arrested three juveniles they believe stole cars in Brick before gassing up without paying in Point Pleasant and then driving to an Irvington White Castle. The investigation began February 6, when police received reports of over 40 car burglaries and four thefts, all in the Midstreams section of town, police said. With help from their colleagues in Point Pleasant, police found out the suspects went first to an Exxon at Route 88 and Bridge Avenue, where they filled up without paying and left.Brick police Detectives Dan Waleski and Greg Mullarkey tracked a stolen car through the Union toll plaza and later found footage of the same car at an Irvington White Castle drive-thru.Three boys were visible in the restaurant footage, one flinging stolen credit and debit cards out a car window, police said.Using the evidence Mullarky and Waleski uncovered, the New Jersey State Police Auto Task Force "tied numerous vehicle thefts and burglaries throughout the state to the three juvenile suspects," wrote Brick police Sgt. James Kelly. The task force arrested the boys, closing dozens of cases.BRICK: Drug factory suspect arrestedAlex N. Gecan has covered crime in New Jersey since 2016.
